Travel is not what it used to be. Because of the fast and easy access to the internet, travelers can use it to book their flights, find hotels, reserve tables at restaurants, and navigate through unfamiliar places. These changes are just the beginning of what travel will be like in the future starting today.

The changes that are pending for traveling are something that sounds like they have been inspired out of a sci-fi movie. Using AI and virtual reality will be the new ways of booking a flight and preparing everything beforehand. Although there are is not enough market and technology advancement for it quite yet, it is quickly preparing the ground to become part of the massive travel experience.

Those that already have a Virtual Reality headset on the phone can use it to preview places that are to be visited. For example, the German airline company Lufthansa has several VR 360-degree videos of different destinations that could be viewed through their YouTube channel. Besides this, the airline offers local events that can allure clients to use their services.

There are companies that are working on integrating virtual reality into the process of choosing flights and accommodation on the plane. The clients of various airlines will have the option of taking a virtual tour of a potential visiting destination. Once they are sure where they will go, the option can be chosen with a connected pair of gloves directly through the images of the VR headset.

The Amazon Alexa voice recognition can be used to choose and book a travel as well. Saying the name of the destination will search all the options for booking.

While AI is used even today in travel planning and booking, in the future it will play an even greater role in tailoring the individual travel experience. AI will be used to find cheap flights and book the best seats on the plane. For those that want to travel during the quiet periods, the quietest travel options will be revealed on the screen in real time.

AR is also another part of future travel. Even now, the language apps are constantly being improved to instantly recognize speech and language and translate it. Holding the phone up to a building or an artifact in a museum gives them the chance to see it with greater detail and with information about what it is, what is inside, and the history of it thanks to AR.

Booking a cheap flight requires some knowledge on which search engines deliver the best results. Certain travel search engines can inflate their prices, while other sites don’t include the budget airlines. Google Flights can give flight dates and times and make it easier to compare that way, but it doesn’t always include the best prices. There isn’t a search engine that is perfect, but using multiple ones can give good fares. When searching, use a private browser in order to see lower prices. When previous searches are remembered by your browser,you could see inflated costs.

Find the Cheapest Day to Fly Out

Even though Tuesday is thought to be the cheapest day to fly, there is no one set day. Search the month of the trip and the route in order to find the cheapest day for the trip.

Consider Budget Airlines

Budget airlines offer cheaper tickets, but it’s important to read the fine print. Know which airport the flight is actually going into. Also check luggage allowance, since some even charge for a carry on.

Book Your Own Connecting Flights

For flights that need a transfer, it may be cheaper for an individual to book the connecting fights themselves instead of having the airline do so. It’s important to do research and not book any tight layovers. Almost every hotel has a dedicated staff working to accommodate each guest. This means that travelers can expect things like room service, deliveries of linens and toiletries, and other services.

At the same time, most hotels have some sort of food service on the property. Whether it be something as simple as a few vending machines, to something more extensive like a restaurant, guests often have food options at a hotel.

Most hotels also have extra amenities travelers can take advantage of that are outside of their room. For example, many hotels have pools, gyms, or business centers. Travelers can make use of these spaces on top of having a private room.

What Travelers Can Expect From AirBnBs

Staying at an AirBnB is a bit different than a hotel. The biggest difference is that, when staying at an AirBnB, travelers are renting out an apartment or house. This is much different than a hotel, where you get just one small room. Some feel as though renting an apartment or house makes the experience that much more authentic.

The price of an AirBnB is typically cheaper than a hotel too. It may not be as affordable as a hostel, but travelers can certainly save by opting for an AirBnB over a hotel.

Usually, travelers will also personally meet the owner of the space they’re renting when choosing an AirBnB. Those with top-rated properties usually act as tour guides, too. This means they’ll recommend attractions you may want to check out, or give you any advice you need on the local area.

So What’s The Best Option For Travelers?

There’s really no right or wrong answer when choosing between an AirBnB or hotel. Staying at a traditional hotel gives one extra amenities and customer service, while an AirBnB offers more affordable rates and an authentic experience. Travelers should decide which they value more, and go in that direction.
